Hello, 2024! We’re a few days into the new year and I’m feeling reflective. Let’s look back on some of my favorite trips from 2023.
Ireland
I started 2023 with a quick trip to the Emerald Isle in January. I traveled with my brother and spent a few days in Dublin and Galway. It was his first time visiting Ireland and it was fun to experience the country through a different lens. From pints at the Guinness Storehouse to foggy views of the Cliffs of Moher, it was a fun trip. One of my favorite parts? The live music in Galway!

Amsterdam
We’re jumping ahead to October of 2023 when I spent a long weekend in Amsterdam with some friends. The last time I was in the Netherlands was in 2017, so it was a lot of fun getting to visit some new parts of the country and enjoy some of my favorites. I ate a lot of stroopwafels, saw some windmills, and had a few Heinekens. From hopping around the pubs and touring the countryside, we met a lot of fun characters. Chatting with people from all over Europe was my favorite part of the trip.

The Adirondacks
It would not be an Erin Goes Everywhere wrap-up post without mentioning the Adirondacks. I know Disneyland has claimed “the happiest place on Earth,” but this is my happy place. My friends and I took a trip to Lake Placid in January of 2023. While it was a quick trip, we had a lot of laughs exploring Mirror Lake and the many shops around it. Then I went back in late spring for some hiking with my friend, Layne. I now have completed six fire tower hikes! (17 to go…)

Austin, Texas
We needed a break from the snow, so we took a trip in February of 2023 to visit my friend in Austin! We got some much-needed sunshine and enjoyed some amazing barbecue. I tried the cowgirl look, enjoyed some margaritas, and got to hang out with some goats. Overall, I enjoyed this part of Texas and I’m planning on returning, hopefully, sooner rather than later.

The Move
Finally, 2023 was the year I moved to Jersey City. I enjoyed my time in Rochester and made a lot of great friends there, but it was time for a change. Still, I made such great friends that I still go back to visit them in Western New York from time to time. Since I moved to Jersey, I’ve reconnected with some great friends, got to see family more often, met some new people, and found a new bagel place I visit weekly. All the important things. As we go into 2024, I’m excited to continue exploring my new home and meet new characters as I learn about Jersey City.

Final Thoughts
If you are still reading, thank you. I started this blog by posting about my travels when I studied abroad in 2017. I went from writing about Ireland, to writing about college, to writing about working in news, and back to travel blogs. Although I don’t post as often as I would like to, it’s still fun to look back and reflect on my travels with a fun little blog post. Thank you, my loyal readers, for continuing to follow along! Here’s to new places, new friends, old friends, and fun travels in 2024.
