Yes, this past weekend I left my safe zone in Ireland and ventured out further into Europe. I visited the capital of The Netherlands, Amsterdam! It was full of amazing food and amazing people, I can’t believe I had to leave. I’m back after another exciting trip in this beautiful country! This past weekend, I went down to Cork, home of the Blarney Castle, which is home to the famed Blarney Stone. I also hopped on a Paddy-wagon bus and drove around the beautiful Ring of Kerry.

I thought Sunday night was going to be a night of eating food and watching Netflix to prepare for the school week. As I checked my phone one last time before turning off the lights to go to bed, I started to notice headlines report a shooting happening in Las Vegas. Being a journalism major, I’ve been following several American and Irish news sources since I got to Ireland. I stayed up a little longer to try and follow the story, but decided to sleep and see what happens in the morning. After a few hours of learning more, I decided to share my observations of being an aspiring American journalist, but mainly an American, outside of The United States.
After a tiring day of hopping from bus to train, I am back in my apartment after a really fun weekend in Galway! From wandering the beaches of the Aran Islands to getting a drink at the Kings Head pub, here’s a look back my weekend on the west coast.
